HOUSING ACTIVITIES
We study the impact of inclusionary zoning that is a set of policies
that provide an economic incentive for developers to set aside a number
of permanently affordable units, by allowing them to build more units
per lot. These ordinances encourage the development of affordable housing.
Typically, an ordinance will require that new developments of a certain
density include "mandatory set-sides" of affordable units,
which are made available to low and moderate-income households for 10-20
year periods.
We monitor the activities of the Raleigh Housing Authority.
We participate in several of the committees that comprise the 10-Year
Plan to End Homelessness, including Education & Employment and Housing.
