The Environment Committee meets monthly throughout the year and reports regularly to the Board and the membership through articles in the newsletter.  A synopsis of the committee’s work is available in the Annual Report

Two environmental issues are high priority items for League action, sediment pollution of streams and air quality.  All positions are supported by LWVUS or LWVNC

What we do:

·        Monitor legislative activity concerning environmental legislation

·        Educate by inviting experts to speak on pressing issues (Educational activities are open to the public.)

·        Advocate through letters to the editor and other media efforts, statements to elected bodies and lobbying on behalf of legislative, regulatory, or policy efforts deemed appropriate by the Board.
