Harold Miller, automotive instructor at Northampton
Special Attraction of the event was a GM EV-1, leased by Virginia
Power. The EV-1 was taken through the autocross course by several
dignitaries.
Fastest vehicle in the autocross was this electric go-kart, brought
down to NC by DC Motorsports. The kart was not entirely zero-pollution,
as the electric motor overheated and let some smoke out of the
windings.

Host school Northampton County East had three vehicles in the
event: Shocker III
A professionally converted S-10 that they won in a race
in Richmond
And Shocker-II
CP&L's Ralph Goodwin was back, with his US Electricar Prizm
tricked out with a new paint job. He turned in the best augocross
time of any full-size vehicle.
NCSU's Metro did well n the autocross, but pooped out in
the road rally.
Winner of the long-distance award, Miramar HS from Miramar
Florida.

Harnett Central HS took 1st place in the Road Rally on Saturday
Central Shenandoah Valley Governor's School took 1st place in
the autocross
