North Carolina Has Own as LWVUS Officer
LWVNC is very proud to announce that Mary Klenz, LWV Charlotte/ Mecklenburg, has moved into the position of 2nd Vice President of the LWVUS. Mary has been on the LWVUS Board for several years working in their membership and outreach areas. We are extremely proud of Mary and will support her as she works for us here in North Carolina. Congratulations to Mary on her success!
Spectrum of Democracy Awards
At the 2011 Spectrum of Democracy Awards the N.C. Center for Voter Education honored 3 citizens and NBC-17 for their contributions to democracy in NC. NBC-17 was honored as the Outstanding Media Organization.
NCCVE Executive Director Damon Circosta stated: In 2010, Raleigh-based NBC-17 excelled in providing citizens with comprehensive coverage of the candidates courting their vote. Partnering with the League of Women Voters of North Carolina, NBC-17 presented a series of in-depth televised congressional and senatorial debates moderated by anchor and political reporter Kim Genardo. These debates spanned last year's primary, runoff and general elections. Watch the video prepared for the award.

Women's Advocacy Day is March 1

Sunshine Day, sponsored by the Open Government Coalition, will be held on March 17 from 11:30-3:30 at the Historic Salisbury Foundation train depot. Tom Ross, the new president of UNC, will be the keynote speaker. More information and registration are now available.
