PRESIDENT'S UPDATE
August 2008

Alice Taylor, President
Crescent Ski Council
luvs2ski@verizon.net

Happy Labor Day everyone!

It's still hot in West Virginia, but colder weather and SNOW can't be too far in the future.  I was at Snowshoe in mid-August for its Blues, Brews, and Barbeque festival, and it was in the mid 40's at night.  It also snowed while I was in Winter Park, CO last week!  That's a good sign of fall, and more importantly winter, approaching.  I know I'm ready for lots of skiing this year, and Crescent and its clubs have plenty of trips to offer.

TRIPS

Steamboat Race & Ski Camp:  December 6 - 13, 2008

Big Sky,Montana:  January 17 - 24, 2009

Keystone, CO:  March 14 - 21, 2009

September 1st is the deadline for Crescent to hold rooms for Big Sky, so I hope your clubs were busy promoting the trip this summer.  I went on the last Crescent trip to Big Sky, and the mounain is excellent.  Final payment for Steamboat is due October 1st.  Since Keystone is in March, the deadline is later.   Information about all of the trips is contained in CSC's web site.  Don't let airfares and baggage charges deter your members from taking these trips.  Odds are that the prices will only get worse for future trips!

Lisa is gathering information about club trips in 2008-2009 so be sure to send her your plans.  She will compile and post the trips on CSC's website.

CONVENTIONS

Don't forget the Fall Conference is scheduled for October 31 - November 2, 2008, in Gatlinburg, TN.  Conference information is contained in www.crescentskicouncil.org, under Conventions.  Be sure to make your reservations early to get the Crescent pricing.  Among the numerous meetings / workshops will be the selection of the Crescent Ski Week trips for 2010 and an update of National Ski Council Federation activities.

Just a reminder that all race directors and race workers are required to attend their respective meetings at the Fall Conference.

Standard Reminder:  Keep Bruce McMurray, snowdawgasoc@bellsouth.net, informed of your changes in officers, committee chairs, and email addresses.  If his information is wrong, EXCOMM's listings are wrong, and data is not disseminated properly.  Also, the Crescent Directory will be distributed at the fall conference, and we really want it to contain accurate information!

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES

Lisa Beregi and I just returned from the National Ski Council Federation annual meeting, at Winter Park, CO.  Both of us will have lots of information to share with everyone at the Fall Conference.

That's it for now.  Enjoy the fall weather, football (and baseball for some of us), and think SNOW!!!
