Bach's Lunch
A Series
of Noontime Organ Recitals
Wednesdays at 12:15-12:45
“There
let the pealing organ blow…Dissolve me into extasie
And bring all Heaven before mine eyes.”
(John Milton)
One of the treasures of the Episcopal Church in our region is the great
Kleuker organ in our church. A large and complete instrument, our organ
is capable of rendering the whole of the vast repertoire of worthy music
composed for the “king of instruments.” The Kleuker has been
joined this Spring by an exquisite two-manual organ built by the Dobson
Organ Company in Lake City, Iowa. This organ installed in our historic
chapel has a warm and intimate sound appropriate to the space and the
liturgical life which flourishes in it. Come enjoy the varied tonal colors
and sonic splendor of these organs under the hands (and feet) of distinguished
local organists in this popular series of informal recitals. As the pun
suggests, listeners are welcome to eat their lunch (please watch the celery
and carrot sticks!) in the nave of the church during these recitals. For
a description of the organs, please click on the “Church Organ”
and Chapel Organ pages.page.
BACH'S
LUNCH series will resume on October 22, 2008.
