The North Carolina Peace Corps Association "Bringing the World Back Home"
Save the Date North Carolina!
Tuesday, March 2, 2010 National Day of Action
As the United States re-commits to collaborative engagement with other nations of the world, as our citizens respond to a renewed call to service, the Peace Corps is a known and respected program that can play a positive role in addressing these vital needs.
Yet, only half the number of Peace Corps volunteers are serving our nation compared to forty years ago. Last year’s record funding increase was a great step forward. We need you to keep the momentum going!
On March 2nd, we need all supporters of the Peace Corps to take less than five minutes to contact the offices of their Senators and Representatives to urge their continued support of a bigger, better and bolder Peace Corps.
TheMorePeaceCorps Campaign is a program of the National Peace Corps Association www.peacecorpsconnect.org
MorePeaceCorpsis a campaign launched in 2008 by the National Peace Corps Associatio , a nonprofit community of serving and returned volunteers and staff whose lives have been influenced by the Peace Corps experience.
Their goal is to build a robust, dynamic Peace Corps of at least 16,000 Americans serving in 100 countries as part of America's renewed commitment to positive engagement with countries around the world and the President's challenge to all Americans to serve their communities, their country and the cause of peaceful development across the Globe.
As President of the North Carolina Peace Corps Association, Emily Coble (Sierra Leone 74-76) was a strong supporter of the MorePeaceCorps Campaign throughout 2008
Interested members view a video on the MorePeaceCorps project during one of the hosted house parties on Sept. 6th. The house parties raise awareness and funds for the program.
