Mission
Founded in 1990, the North Carolina Hunger
Network is a statewide, diverse membership organization committed
to ending hunger and malnutrition through education, advocacy
and research. Hunger will not be eliminated through emergency
food provisions. To end hunger and malnutrition we, the affected
and concerned, will work together across our state for economic
and social justice.

Who we are
The North Carolina Hunger Network is a
grassroots membership organization established to address
hunger through education and advocacy. Diverse both racially,
and socio-economically, membership includes, emergency food
providers, church hunger groups, community action agencies,
social change organizations, community based organizations
and individuals
What we do
Promote communications and coordination
among diverse groups to generate a cohesive approach to influencing
policies and programs affecting poverty, hunger and malnutrition.
Conduct public education and information
activities designed to raise awareness about hunger and poverty
in North Carolina and foster support for programs and policies
that combat hunger and poverty.
Encourage and conduct and facilitate research
on hunger and malnutrition in North Carolina.
Establish legislative priorities and conduct
advocacy on hunger and related issues.
Provide a forum for people living in poverty
to influence the development and implementation of food security
policies.
Stimulate grass-roots activities to support
local anti-hunger initiatives.
Work with regional, national, and international
organizations to end hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.
