This list, sponsored by NC Women United, is for communication among volunteers working on the 2004 Durham County Women's Agenda Assembly.
County or regional Women's Agenda Assemblies are held across the state in the fall of even years. Each one is an opportunity for members of many different women's groups and unaffiliated women to come together to discuss public policy issues affecting the women of North Carolina. The coalition NC Women United (www.ncwu.org) coordinates preparation of the Draft Agenda which is discussed at these meetings. NCWU takes the reports of these discussions and prepares the Women's Agenda which is presented to the Legislature in an Advocacy Day at the start of the long session in the odd year.
The Durham County Agenda Assembly brings together many groups in its planning. This list may be used for limited inter-group communication on matters unrelated to the Agenda Assembly, such as announcements of other events or issues being considered by county or city governments. However, remember that NC Women United is a 501(c)(3) organization and the Agenda Assembly process itself is nonpartisan, so discussions on this list should also be nonpartisan.
