SABIOS provides individualized and community-based services to adults who have moderate to chronic substance abuse problems. Intensity and frequency of services will depend on consumers' readiness for treatment and life domain needs.

This program utilizes best known practices to engage consumers, and their families and natural supports, in an array of services to begin recovery and learn skills for recovery maintenance by:

1. Incorporating strengths-based individualized and comprehensive care; involvement of family, natural supports, and community partners; reducing barriers to care; coordinating supports and services through teamwork; and improving the availability, quality, and comprehensiveness of resources
2. Understanding and offering a menu of services based on individuals' Stage of Change
3. Effectively utilizing Motivational Interviewing as a key component throughout all service planning and delivery
