The Brief Intervention Program serves individuals who have a substance abuse/dependence diagnosis, do not have Medicaid and/or are being discharged from state operated hospital. The goal is to influence individual's high risk behavior associated with substance use and reduce negative consequences, which will potentially reduce further involvement with criminal justice system, hospitalization and/or the need for more restrictive levels of care.

The program provides the following services:

  • Time limited (12 weeks) group therapy to address:
    • Talking about change and setting goals
    • Teaching new skills and ways to cope with problems
    • Help with identifying triggers that precipitate crisis
    • Coping with life stress
    • Developing a healthy lifestyle
    • Strengthening relationships with family and friends
    • Finding stable housing and employment
  • Individual and family counseling
  • Random drug testing
  • Crisis counseling
  • Community support services
  • Medication evaluation and management
