DPNA Meeting Minutes
DPNA Board Meeting, April 12, 2007
Board members present: Dan Read (president), Pam Campa (treasurer), Claire Doyle (secretary), Marty Jarrell, Carol Donin, Kara Van Dam (members-at-large), Barry Ragin (president ex oficio)
Roxboro/Knox intersection: So far there have been no objections on the email list to turning the northbound left turn lane into a pedestrian island. Barry will put out another email to verify, but otherwise can give city the go-ahead to block that off and put in a crosswalk. The city would like a raised median, but at this point NCDOT only has the budget/resources for a painted median. The city is OK with a pedestrian-activated flashing light (like on Hwy 751 through Duke Forest). Barry recommends that DPNA sends a letter of thanks once it is completed (both to the city and NCDOT). Dan will try to get in touch with Wally Bowman (chief district engineer for NCDOT).
NCDOT is hiring an engineer/designer to fix the Roxboro/Magnum/Markham intersection.
Bathhouse: Barry wrote a second email to Patrick, Baker, saying how great the farmers market opening was, and asking what we have to do to get Parks & Recreation to work with us like that? Baker said he’s on it and will schedule a meeting. If he hasn’t scheduled the meeting in a couple of weeks, we need to remind him.
Newsletter: Melissa and Marty are doing the newsletter next time.
Saturday potluck: Barry will check paper products supply, Dan will go to Costco for drinks. Dan will send an email to remind about the potluck and the rescue mission food drive. Pam and Marty will handle the food drive.
DPPI: Board agreed that as a 501-3(c), DPPI is critical to the bathhouse renovations, and will be seeking to renew an active relationship with the organization.
Kara will be leaving in June. Barry suggests inviting Bill Anderson to replace her and be our delegate to INC.
Neighborhood clean-up: The volunteer organizer needs to make a few phone calls, send a few emails to inform people of the even and the rules, provide coffee/donuts, be there to meet the workers from Solid Waste, tip them after. Kara will do it if nobody else volunteers. Make sure to go up all the alleys!
The next DPNA meeting will be on Thursday, May 10.
