CONVENTIONS
The Fall Conference will be October 29 - 31, 2010, at Gatlinburg, TN. Registration forms have been issued, and the information should be on CSC's web site shortly. Mary Anne Koltowich, Knoxville, is the Fall Conference Coordinator and is busy putting together another excellent weekend. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend.
TRIPS
Sign-ups are underway for Taos, New Mexico (January) and Ogden, Utah (March) - CSC's 2011 Ski Week trips. Your trip directors have the information, and it should be posted on CSC's web site shortly. Taos and Ogden have alternating monthly payment schedules, and deposits are due July 1st. Ask your club trip directors to share the PowerPoint presentations to help your members get a better idea of what both areas have to offer for Ski Weeks and then plan to sell!
Registration for Race & Ski Camp began June 1st. Registration data has been provided to clubs' trip directors and should be presented at your June meetings. Even though this trip isn't run with a "club trip leader", all clubs should ensure that the information is made available to its membership. With today's internet capabilities, every club has the ability to distribute information electronically to its membership. It takes just a few minutes to send an e-mail to your members with the trip data attached. John Casey will be sending the registration packet to past participants on June 20th.
Trips Committee is still working on the short list for the January 2012 ski week. Results should be known shortly.
TREASURER
Remember that Ron is looking for a Treasurer for 2011-12. If you are interested, please contact me. It would be nice to train with Rod for a year and learn the ropes.
RACING
Ron is working on sponsorship for this coming race season. He is also talking with local ski resorts to set-up training days for Crescent racers and want-to-be Crescent racers. John Casey has reported that Steamboat Race/Ski School is selling well.
MEMBER SERVICES
Many clubs hold their elections in spring or early summer. Please be sure to send changes to Bruce McMurray, CSC's database coordinator. As I've said many times, CSC communicates extensively through email, and our ability to communicate is hindered if the database is not current. I noticed few changes in the June database. Bruce's email address is snowdawgasoc@bellsouth.net.
ADMINISTRATIVE
I am including the new CSC alcohol statement for the next few months so that newly elected officers are aware of our policy. ExComm finalized the alcohol policy after the Spring Convention. After much discussion and a review of the policy by lawyers, ExComm decided to forego a detailed policy and instead developed an alcohol statement that will be included in all registration forms and in other documents such as the Spring Convention Guide. That statement is:
“Crescent Ski Council (“CSC) encourages legal and responsible behavior in the consumption of alcoholic beverages in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Each CSC member shall be solely responsible for his/her consumption of alcoholic beverages and his/her behavior and actions as a consequence of said consumption.”
Last week, I sent out information about a possible fund raiser for clubs via The Ski Channel. If you did not receive this information, please let me know and I will forward to you.
Everyone, including the committee chairs, is hard at work. Crescent is fortunate to have an excellent group of people who have volunteered to serve in many capacities. Be sure to thank them and remember that we are always looking for more volunteers.
Please distribute these updates to your members, via email, your newsletters or by placing them on your web site. If you received this update and are not the current officer, please forward to the appropriate person. Let's keep our members informed!
That's it for my first update! Thank you for allowing me to serve as your president.
