Hi Everyone! I hope you're having a great ski season! I'll try to keep this month's update short.

TRIPS

Big Sky was excellent! Crescent sent 120 members on the trip, and based upon the comments I heard during the week, I believe everyone had a great time. The weather was spring-like and sunny most of the time, and the mountain had something for everyone (lots of groomers and steeps of varying types). The various events (Poker Run, Fun Race, and receptions) were well-attended, and the Thursday night awards dinner was fun (good food, awards and door prizes, and dancing). Thanks to Max Dangerfield, President of Columbia, for video recording the Fun Race; it was a hoot! Be sure to watch the video at the Spring Convention. Sports America, Lisa Beregi, the clubs' trip leaders, and Big Sky's staff did a great job. Be sure to thank them.

Crescent is taking one more west trip this year: Keystone, CO, from March 14-21. Lodging is in condos, and the lift tickets are good at Keystone, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Beaver Creek, and Vail (2 days only there). Spaces are still available and need to be filled to avoid cancellation penalties. Please promote this trip to your members. Details are on CSC's web site.

There is one more local trip in 2009: Snowshoe, the weekend of March 7th. Linda Redd, Local Trips Coordinator, is handling the trip. By now, your reservations and payments should be flowing to her. Plans already are underway for 2010. Steamboat Ski and Race Camp is December 5 -12, 2009, and Crescent is going to Whitefish, Montana in January 2010. Details will be provided at the Spring Convention.

CONVENTIONS

The Spring Convention will be held at Kingston Plantation, North Myrtle Beach, SC, April 23 - 26, 2009. Club registration and lodging forms are on the web site. Please get this information to your members. This is Crescent's annual meeting, at which officers are elected, and Trips and Racing make many important decisions. It's also a great weekend, with lots of interaction with ski resorts, travel agencies, and other vendors, parties and the highly-competitive Beach Olympics! Lastly, there are the other competitions: web site and scrapbook, which are hotly contested every year. This year, Crescent will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary, and the 40th's Planning Committee is working hard to gather information and artifacts covering the years. The Saturday party theme will be "1969". Mark the dates on your calendar and think warm, sunny beach while you ski down cold, sunny slopes! We would really like to have more people attend the convention, and the 40th will be a great time to look back over the years, learn about the clubs and Crescent, and simply enjoy a long weekend with friends!

RACING

Be sure to include the race sponsor sheets in your newsletters so your members can participate in the door prizes at race weekends.

MEMBER SERVICES

Please remember to send all changes in your officers and committee chairs, as well as any changes in email addresses, to Bruce McMurray, CSC's database coordinator.

ADMINISTRATIVE

Officers are elected at the Spring Convention BOD meeting. That means there needs to be names on the ballot. I encourage everyone to become more active in Crescent and volunteer for an office or committee position. Rod Davis, CSC's Treasurer, has advised that he will not run for re-election. At Big Sky, I asked for volunteers for that position, and at least one individual expressed interest. If you are interested in running for any office or volunteering for a committee position, please contact Margaret Jordan, Past President, at magjordan@msn.com. Deadline for submitting names is February 28, 2009. Most of the current officers and committee chairs have held positions in EXCOMM for many years. Regardless of how well we have executed our positions, new blood with new ideas is always a good thing!

Per Crescent's bylaws, yearly membership dues were payable no later than December 31, 2008. If your club hasn't paid yet, please mail your payment to Rod Davis, CSC Treasurer, ASAP. His address is in the fall directory. If you haven't received the electronic invoice, please advise Rod and me ASAP. Thanks

Please remember to distribute this update to your members: it is important for clubs' members to have access to these updates so they have a better understanding of what actually transpires in an organization as large and diverse as Crescent. I encourage all of you to have the updates posted on your club's web site or emailed to all of your members routinely.

That's it for now. Enjoy the winter weather and have fun skiing!
