Communities in Schools of Orange County (CISOC) champions the needed connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. Some students and their families need intensive services while other students need a tutor or mentor. Whatever the need, CISOC tries to help fulfill it.
CISOC needs you to bring the "community" into the schools. Can you tutor one hour per week? Would you donate an old computer to a student? Would you talk about your career or arrange a tour of your jobsite? Do you have items for a baby that might be of use to a young mother trying to finish school? We can give you a tax letter for all donations of money or material goods. You will gain much more. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that your donations of time, goods, funds or services has made an impact on a young person, a positive impact on the future. Contact us to get started.
Seven years ago, concerned citizens and community leaders came together to discuss the needs of students in public schools in Orange County. Serving two school districts in the county presented a challenge to all those involved. Orange County Schools serve families in less urban areas while Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools serve families in more populous areas. To meet this challenge, the organization provides each school site with resources (goods, services, and funds) to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.
