Astronomy Day Celebration April 24th at Little River Park

CHAOS, Little River Park, and the Triangle astronomy community will be celebrating Astronomy Day on April 24th 2010 from 3:30 - 9:30 at Little River Park.

The daytime activities start at 3:30 pm, rain or shine, and continue 'til dusk:

  • Pocket Solar System
  • Scale Model Solar System
  • Safe Solar Observing
  • Buying Telescopes: Reflectors vs. Refractors
  • Telescope Tune Up Clinics (courtesy of RAC)
  • Musical Astronomy
  • Astro-Crafts for Kids
   

Plus, we'll be givin away some copies of "On the Shoulders of Giants" donated by The Chromatics and stickers from NASA's Space Place.

The evening observing session is obviously dependent on the weather. You're welcome to bring their own binoculars and telescopes, and We'll be happy to answer questions and try to help you get the most out of your equipment. If you don't have your own equipment, we're looking forward to sharing. In addition to Constellation Tours, we'll be pointing 'scopes at:

  • The Moon
  • Mars
  • Saturn
  • Double Stars
  • Star Clusters
