Recognize and honor individuals, organizations, institutions, and businesses that have made significant contributions to North Carolina communities in the area of information and computer technology.

For example:

An individual who teaches computer and information technology skills, inspiring students and extending their horizons.
A nonprofit organization that has used technology to significantly improve their capacity to serve their clients or an institution that is providing technological support services to community nonprofits.
A business that has incorporated programs focused on improving information and computer technology services to North Carolina communities.

Purpose: RTPnet is initiating Community Technology Awards to recognize and honor those who have made significant contributions to North Carolina communities in the area of information and computer technology.

Who is eligible? Any individual, organization, institution, or business that has made significant contributions to North Carolina communities in the area of information and computer technology is eligible for an RTPnet Community Technology Award. You may nominate yourself or your organization.

Categories:

Individual: Outstanding individual contribution to the community as an employee or volunteer.
Organization or Institution: Exceptional or innovative use of technology to serve clients, members of the community, or other organizations.
Business: Exceptional program for supporting community technology efforts in the community.

Note: If in the opinion of the judges there are no meritorious nominations in a category, there will not be an award in that category.

Where and when will awards be presented? The RTPnet Community Technology Awards Reception will be held as part of RTPnet's 5th Annual Conference: Bridging North Carolina's Digital/Human Divide, March 19, 2004, 5:00-6:00 PM, at The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill. Nomination form: The nomination form is available at www.rtpnet.org/awards/form.html.

Deadline: Nominations must be received by February 23, 2004.
