Facts & ResearchThe NC Alliance for Health gathers facts and research on a wide variety of smoking-related issues. The Alliance has identified three priority policy issues to focus on in the coming year: Secondhand Smoke - Eliminate exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke by advocating for clean in-door air policies and repeal the state law that prohibits local governments from passing effective local clean air policies (pre-emption). Cigarette Tax - Support an increase of at least 75 cents in North Carolina's cigarette excise tax. Tobacco Settlement - Support the use of Tobacco Settlement Funds for programs and policies
aimed at preventing and reducing tobacco use.
