WELCOME
On behalf of the North Carolina Adult Education Association, we
invite you to attend our annual conference to be held on the campus
of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina on March
12-14, 2008.
We hope the theme for this year's conference "Adult education
programs: Do they work for working adults" will challenge
adult educators across the state to examine the state's adult
education programs and determine whether or not they are serving
the needs of students. Also, share individual and institutional
examples of how we, as adult educators, continue to meet the needs
of adult students through programs, research and student services.
This year, we are honored to have Brenda White Wright, motivational
Speaker and trainer, as our keynote speaker. Wright is an adult
learner who has been in school for 30+years. Through the use of
entertaining anecdotes and instructive examples, her stimulating
presentation will focus on continuing education as a transformative
solution for those challenged by negative cultural stereotypes
and limited expectations. The audience will be energized and inspired
by the speaker’s examples to learn and teach others to identify
and eliminate obstacles to healthy and happy lifelong learning.
